Local Attractions:

At the heart of the region renowned for its chateaux sits a town full of fun and excitement, famous for porcelain and motor racing at the Magny-Court circuit, not to mention the convent that is the final resting place of Bernadette Soubirous (Saint Bernadette).
But Nevers is so much more than just that, for it is a vibrant town full of heart and spirit. It is also the proud possessor of the "Arts and Crafts City" label. Its pottery has been renowned ever since the 16th century and it is also home to the majestic Palais Ducal with its wide range of treasured architecture ranging from the 6th to the 20th century.
Every year, Saint Bernadette's shrine attracts thousands of pilgrims from all over the world. Furthermore, the Magny-Cours circuit hosts the French Formula 1 Grand Prix, the Bol d'Or and other international races.
The village of Apremont with its flower-filled park has been ranked among the "most beautiful villages in France." At the Bec d'Allier, the confluence of the two largest rivers in France (the Loire and the Allier), you can enjoy a lovely walk or bike ride in the vast state-owned forests or stroll along the banks of the Nevers canal.
Nevers in the Nievre is an authentic region preserved in the granite of the Morvan national park. An area with a strong identity, you will discover a thousand different landscapes, from wooded mountainsides to deep valleys and huge lakes. For four centuries, the Nievre has carried tree trunks assembled in "wooden trains" on its rivers as far as the capital. These vast floating convoys are a particularly awe-inspiring and grandiose sight. Did you know that the village of Moux-en-Morvan is the largest producer of Christmas trees? On the edge of the Morvan, you will also find the Vezelay basilica, founded in 859, a world heritage site since 1979 and historical departure point of the pilgrimage to Compostella. Ten minutes walk from the basilica lies the Franciscan hermitage of "La Cordelle", France's earliest Franciscan settlement.
