Vividly coloured rocks and sea make up the picturescape of this coastline dotted with delightful villages and small harbours. To enjoy a stunning view of the whole of the region, go up the Tour Madeloc (652m) from where there is a lovely view of the Alb?res, the Vermeille and Roussillon coasts. Another vantage point is Cap R?deris with its sweeping view of the coastline. You will enjoy stopping off at Banyuls, a delightful seaside resort on the edge of a pretty bay and Cerbere, a tiny seaside village with a distinctly Spanish flavour. Port-Vendres is set in a cove which offered excellent shelter for galleys in ancient times; the town was developed and fortified under Vauban and is now a busy fishing port. Collioure is a delight. Numerous painters attracted by the bright colours of this town have immortalised it on canvas, and as early as 1910 the first of the "Fauves" made it their headquarters - Derain, Braque, Othon, Matisse, etc. Take the time to wander round the old streets, admire the royal castle and savour the atmosphere of its two fishing harbours.

Airport : Perpignan 22 Km.
Train station Argeles sur Mer 500 m.
By car:
From Narbonne, exit 42. On the D914 road, exit 12. Take the first turning on your left, towards Argeles Ville (D114). Just before the village, at the roundabout, turn right into Avenue du 8-Mai-1945 towards Centre Plage. At the next roundabout, follow on the left on the Rue Arthur-Rimbaud.
From Spain, exit 43. At Le Boulou, follow on D618 road. At the entrance of Argeles-sur-Mer, take the D914 road exit 12, then follow the same instructions as above.
