Local Attractions:

Val Baussenc: a good start to discovering the culture, nature and tourism of the region.

Val Baussenc is located in the charming village of Maussane les Alpilles, famous for its olive oil, not far from many famous historical sites, which you can easily visit from there.

From there you can take the road to Maillane, where the poet Frederic Mistral was born. The road, called le Val d?enfer (the Valley of the Hell) meanders down to St Remy de Provence through a landscape of stones sculpted by the mistral, the local wind. Looking back towards the old village of Les Baux, one has a fantastic panoramic view of the open countryside and of the Alpilles.

By the Alpilles, stand the Greco-Roman ruins of Glanum built around a sacred foutain. Across the road "Les Antiques", a mausoleum and a triumphal arch are an interesting account of the past. The village of Eygallieres is located on a hill on the way to the Alpilles from the Luberon. The famous little Chapel of St Sixte is located there.

Leaving the North Alpilles, the road carries on south to Fontvieille (Alphonse Daudet's windmill) and to the abbey of Montmajour. Then towards the city of Arles, and the Camargue.

The city of Arles is full of history. The arenas and the theater are reminiscent of the Roman power. The St Trophim Church and cloister are masterpieces of Roman architecture.

The road winds between the olives trees and the vineyard up to the village of Les Baux de Provence where the ruins of King Rene's Castle stand over the valley. .
