We will spend a whole day in the heart of Provence, discovering the Alpilles mountain range and the most beautiful Provençal villages of the Luberon.
We’ll drive towards the Alpilles to arrive in the medieval village of les Baux-de-Provence. Free time to explore the narrow streets, gallery and the remains of the castle or enjoy a unique show in Europe in the Quarries of lights “Carrières de Lumières” (entrance ticket not included) where the natural limestone walls act like a giant screen.
Then we will drive to Saint-Rémy-de-Provence where Van Gogh was hospitalised and where Nostradamus was born. You will see the Roman ruins of le Plateau-des-Antiques and the village (beautiful Provencal market on Wednesdays).
After lunch we will reach Gordes, classified as one of the most beautiful village of France. Free time to explore the village, church, caves or Renaissance castle.
Then we’ll drive to Roussillon, with its ochre cliffs and colourful houses. Free time to stroll down the village or walk along the “ochre trail” (entrance ticket not included).
Continue on to Lourmarin, charming Provencal village, source of inspiration of Peter Mayle for “A year in Provence”. The village with its famous Renaissance castle is set in the midst of olive and almond groves.
